WI BIO - Dodge Co - ZEIDLER, Ludwig History of Dodge County, Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1880, p 675 Ludwig ZEIDLER, merchant and Postmaster for Lomira [Dodge County, Wisconsin], was born in Prussia in 1826, and was educated in his native land. He was five years a Prussian soldier, and fought through the revolution of 1848. Ludwig ZEIDLER came to America in 1852 and settled on a farm in Lomira. At this time not a house existed in the present village, and the country to the east was heavily timbered. Mr. Ludwig ZEIDLER improved his land and was a farmer of Dodge County about twenty-one years. He settled in Lomira and began business in 1873, and was appointed Postmaster the same year. Mr. ZEIDLER has a general stock of goods, viz., dry goods, groceries, boots and shoes, hardware, glassware, crockery, notions, etc., and still owns a farm of 118 acres. In 1851 Ludwig ZEIDLER married Miss Julia BERTON. Ludwig and Julia (BERTON) ZEIDLER have five living children: Bertha, Louis, Paul, Helene, and Anna. Ludwig ZEIDLER's son, Paul, is by trade a watchmaker, and works in the store [in Lomira]. Mr. [Ludwig] ZEIDLER is a Democrat, and he has been, and is now, Town Treasurer.
