Mayville [Williamstown Township; Section 7 of Williamstown Township is (on a map of Dodge County in the 1878 Atlas of Wisconsin) in the Horicon Marsh; could have resided on Section 7 of Theresa Township, just west of Mayville and received mail from Mayville, since the only town shown in Theresa Township is Theresa, not designated a P. O.], was born 20 April 1830 in Prussia. He came to America with his parents, who were among the very first settlers in Lebanon in 1843 [Lebanon Township, Dodge County, then in the Territory of Wisconsin; statehood for Wisconsin achieved on 29 May 1848.] After eight years [1851?] he settled and has since resided in Theresa [Theresa Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin], and settled on his present farm of 172 acres in 1865. In 1855 he [John G. SCHLEY] married Miss Wilhelmina PAGENKOP. They [John G. and Wilhelmina (PAGENKOP) SCHLEY] have ten living children: John F., Mary, Julius, Gustav, Albert, Matilda, Herman, Augusta, Reichard, and Alvina. Mr. SCHLEY is rearing good stock for general purposes, and the usual crops. He is a Lutheran in religion, and a Democrat in politics.
