Mayville, was born 12 November 1838 in Prussia, where he spent his early life and was educated. [On a map of Dodge County in the 1878 Atlas of Wisconsin, Mayville is in Williamstown Township. Section 7 of Williamstown Township is in the Horicon Marsh. Possibly resided on Section 7 of Theresa Township? Theresa Township is just west of Mayville, and the only town shown in Theresa Township (Theresa) is not designated as a P. O.] He came to America and to Williamstown Dodge County, Wisconsin] with his parents, who settled in that township. With fifty cents in his pocket, he [Gottfried SCHELLPFEFFER] began as a farm laborer, worked by the month until 1862, and settled on his present farm of ninety-three acres. He has cleared and improved this farm, and now has the best of buildings and a good home. On 23 May 1865 he [Gottfried SCHELLPFEFFER] married Miss Frederica GUSE. They [Gottfried and Frederica (GUSE) SCHELLPFEFFER] have seven children: Charles, Minnie, Herman, Matilda, William, Augusta, and Robert. Mr. SCHELLPFEFFER is a Democrat.
