WI BIO - Dodge Co - SCHELLPFEFFER, August History of Dodge County, Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1880, p 653 August SCHELLPFEFFER, farmer, Sections 12 and 13, P. O. Mayville [on a map of Dodge County in the 1878 Atlas of Wisconsin, Mayville is in Williamstown Township], was born 08 July 1826 in Prussia, where he spent his early life and was educated. He was in the Prussian Army three and a half years. He came to America and to Dodge County [Wisconsin] in 1852, and began here as a farm laborer. In 1854 he bought 40 acres, and now [text published 1880] has 240 acres of well-improved land, and has a one-third interest in the Mayville Brewing Company. This may fairly be called a good record for a man who began as he did. On 09 January 1858 he [August SCHELLPFEFFER] married Miss Theresa WOLTER. They [August and Theresa (WOLTER) SCHELLPFEFFER] have three children: Henry, Bertha, and August. Mr. SCHELLPFEFFER is a Democrat, has been Chairman and Assessor, and is now President of the town insurance company. He is a Lutheran in religious belief. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
