WI BIO - Dodge Co - SCHAAF, Nicholas History of Dodge County, Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1880, p 759 Rev. Nicholas SCHAAF, pastor of St. Matthew's Catholic Church [Neosho, Rubicon Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin], was born in January 1841 in Lunenburg, Germany. He came to Wisconsin in 1857, locating at Ashford [Ashford Township, a Fond du Lac County township which is adjacent to Dodge County], and afterward moved to St. Francis Seminary [in Lake Township, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, south of the city of Milwaukee], where he received his clerical education. In 1870 he was ordained by Bishop HENNI at Milwaukee, and afterward took charge of his present church].
