Chicago: Western Historical, 1880, p 652 Charles RUEDEBUSCH, merchant, Mayville [Williamstown Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin], was born 25 May 1832 in Oldenburg [Germany], was educated in his native country, and came to America in September 1847. He was clerk in a Charleston [Charleston County], South Carolina, grocery store over two years, and came to Milwaukee [Milwaukee County, Wisconsin] in 1850. After a residence of four months here, he returned to Germany and spent a year. On his return Charles RUEDEBUSCH lived one year in Milwaukee. Then removing to Mayville, he began business with H. NABER on 01 June 1853. The firm did business until 1868. They owned a saw mill, shingle mill, and store in Shawano [Shawano County], Wisconsin, besides the Mayville store. [Shawano County was created from part of Oconto County in 1858.] Since 1868 Mr. RUEDEBUSCH has kept a general stock of goods in his present store. He also owns two farms of forty and eighty acres each, and is proprietor of the Wisconsin White Lime Works. His lime is considered in Chicago to be the best and strongest made in the State. On 05 September 1854 Mr. [Charles] RUEDEBUSCH married Miss Margaret NABER. They [Charles and Margaret (NABER) RUEDEBUSCH] have six children: Ida, Amil, Emma, Bertha, Lima, and Charles. Mr. RUEDEBUSCH is a Republican, liberal in religion, and a member of several German societies in the village.
