Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1880, p 655 Charles ALLEN, attorney and counselor at law, Horicon [Dodge County, Wisconsin], was born in Morristown, Madison County, New York, 28 June 1836. He was educated and studied law in his native State, and was admitted to the bar in Cooperstown [Otsego County], New York, at the age of twenty-one. He began practice in Vernon, Oneida County, New York. He came to Mayville, Dodge County, Wisconsin, in the fall of 1858, and began practice; here he resided a great part of the time until January 1872, when he removed to Horicon. Mr. [Charles] ALLEN is a Democrat in politics, and was Country Superintendent of Schools for the East District of Dodge County six years; was appointed to fill the vacant District Attorney's office in 1872; has been Town Superintendent of Schools under the old system; was President of the Village Board, Town Clerk, and now Village Clerk. Mr. ALLEN is an active member of Horicon Lodge, No. 40, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons. On 08 October 1866 he married Miss Eliza NORTH.
