Johnson’s Creek; born Oct. 19, 1811, in Berlin, Prussia, where he was educated and studied theology; in 1862, was sent to America by the Evangelical Association for Missions under the German emigrants of North America; became connected with the Wisconsin Synod and was stationed at Edison, Washington Co., where he was Pastor of four congregations; in October, 1867, he took charge of the Churches in Herman, Dodge Co., and Hartford, in Washington Co., living in the former town; in 1874, he moved to Farmington, Jefferson Co., and took the pastorate of this Church; in 1877, he took charge of the school and still teaches in it in place of his son, who has removed. Married Miss Augusta C. Walter, of Berlin, Sept. 28, 1834; has seven children – Maria M., Adolph E., Gustav F., Johannes B., Paul G., Hermann D. and A. Martin S.
