JOHN DEITJEN, grocer; born in Bremen, Germany, June 18, 1846; came to America and located in New York City; employed as a clerk in grocery store until 1865, when he entered the United States Navy and continued in that service until 1868, when he came to Watertown. He was married here, Oct. 24, 1871, to Amelia Frederick; she was born in Germany Sept. 19, 1851; they have four children, Hermann, born Oct. 31, 1872; Bernard, April 7, 1874; Clara, Oct. 5, 1875, and Emma, Aug 3, 1879.
