KNOX, of Madison, Dane County, WI, was born in County Limerick, Ireland, 08 Dec 1857, a son of Patrick and Anna (BLACKBURNE) KNOX. Our subject was educated in the ecclesiastical colleges of Limerick and Tunic, Ireland, and after coming to America, in 1881, he spent one year at St. Francis Seminary, in Milwaukee, WI. Patrick B. KNOX was ordained a minister of that city on 25 Jan 1882, by the late Bishop HEISS, and in Sep 1882 he took charge of a mission in Oregon, Dane County, WI. He remained there until in May 1888, when he erected and still has charge of St. Patrick's Church [Madison, Dane County, WI; 404 E. Main Street; designed by John NADER; see also the Dane County, WI, biography of John NADER]. It was completed and dedicated on 17 Mar 1889, and now has a membership of about 170 families.
