THOMAS DAVIS was born in Northamptonshire, England, in 
1828, and came to Black Earth in 1848. He bought a farm 
there on section 22, where he remained until 1868. In 1849 
he married Miss Susan Wright. Since leaving the farm they 
have resided in Mazomanie. Mr. Davis was town treasurer 
four years, town assessor four years, and supervisor two 
years in Black Earth. He has served as assessor in 
Mazomanie for three years.
