The History of the Township and Village of Mazomanie, BY WILLIAM KITTLE, MADISON, WIS. STATE JOURNAL PRINTING CO. 1900. BARNEY CAMPBELL was born at Homer, N. Y., November 13, 1809. Here he married Miss Nancy Almy and they moved to Bellevue, Ohio, in 1833. They stayed there on a farm till 1856, when they came to Mazomanie and opened a general store. He was in this business for four years, then on a farm near the village for two years, and then back to the village and in Hampton, Iowa, for several years. He died on July 7, 1888. He was master of the Masonic lodge and also town treasurer for several years. Mrs. Campbell died June 1, 1881. There were ten children, six of whom died in infancy: Theedore [sic] died in 1860; Mary, wife of J. S. Armstrong, lives at Prairie du Chien; Sarah, wife of Frederick Stickney, near Mazomanie; Hattie, wife of D. W. Clark, in Dodgeville, Wis.; Frank is now at Garfield, Washington.
