JAMES CRUMP,  farmer, Sec. 27;  P.O. Lake Mills; born in England, 
July 7, 1825; emigrated to America in 1833; came to Wisconsin in 1844; 
went to work at his trade of cooper at Lake Mills; in 1850, went to 
making carriages and wagons; in 1852, went to California; returned in 
1854, and bought 160 acres where he is at present located.  Married, at 
Lake Mills, Jan. 29, 1855, Diantha Thayer, a native of New York; has 
three children.
