[Richard B.] SALTER, attorney, Colby [listed in the 1895 Atlas of Wisconsin as being in Hull Township, Marathon County, Wisconsin, but actually on the boundary, extending into Colby Township, Clark County, Wisconsin], was born on 11 April 1854 in Washington County, Wisconsin, where he grew up and attended school. He soon began teaching, and taught in all about thirty-one months, having received his education in the West Bend High School and Mann's Commercial College of Fond du Lac [Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin], in 1875. He then spent the next season with Frisbie, Weil & Barney, completing his course at the University of [Wisconsin in] Madison. This was in 1877. He located at Colby [Clark County] in 1878, and now has a steadily increasing [law] practice. In 1880 R. B. SALTER married Miss Sarah ENGLEHARD. [Mr. SALTER was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and served as its secretary in 1898. Richard B. SALTER died in May 1914 at Colby, Wisconsin.] Submitted by Cathy Kubly
