Educated in the public schools; at Eastman Business College, Poughkeepsie [Dutchess County], New York; in the law department of the University of Maine, degree of LL. B.; and at New York Law School. Admitted to Maine bar in 1900, and to the Vermont bar in 1901; assisted in organizing the Champlain Trust Company of Winooski [Chittenden County] in 1906; was treasurer of the Chittenden County bar Association 1907-1912; president of the Bank Stock Company. Democrat; represented Burlington in the Legislature 1906; was a member of the board of assessors of Burlington 1911-1914. An attendant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
