Educated at St. Johnsbury Academy and at Dartmouth College. Has been engaged in newspaper work for twenty years; connected with the "Rutland Herald" [Rutland County, Vermont], "Burlington Free Press" [Washington County, Vermont], "New York World," and "St. Albans Messenger" [Franklin County, Vermont]. Was editor and publisher of the "Swanton Courier" [Franklin County, Vermont] for ten years. Republican. Member of Seventy-six Lodge No. 14, Free & Accepted Masons, past master; Champlain Chapter No. 2, Royal Arch Masons; Lafayette Commandery No. 3, Knights Templar, and Vermont Society Sons of the American Revolution.
