Chittenden COMSTOCK, Daniel Vermont Historical Magazine, No XI, October 1867, p 862 (excerpt from a section on the history of Shelburne, Chittenden County) Daniel COMSTOCK, one of the early settlers [of Shelburne, Chittenden County, Vermont], located a short distance north of William SMITH, on a point which has ever bore his name. He was a man of unblemished character; held many offices in the gift of the people, being treasurer of the town for many years. He was a Universalist in religious sentiment, a strict moralist, an honest man; died 11 January 1816, aged seventy-four years. Levi COMSTOCK, son of Daniel, was town clerk for many years, justice of the peace, and held various town offices; was a prominent man in the community; died 10 May 1847, aged eighty-one, universally respected. Elisha COMSTOCK, son of Daniel, owned and occupied this farm, the old homestead, after his father's death, which is now owned by Hezekiah [COMSTOCK], son of Elisha. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
