BOOTH lumber business], Burlington [Chittenden County, Vermont], was born 06 July 1852 at Waterloo, Province of Quebec, Canada, son of John R. and Lydia (BICKFORD) BOOTH. Educated in the public schools of Waterloo, Waterloo Academy, and French school at Masco Mountain, Province of Quebec. Was employed for a time in a general store at Waterloo. In 1869 enlisted in the Canadian militia; was called to St. Armand and did duty during the Fenian raid. Later employed in the Manchester Corporation woolen mill, Manchester [Hillsborough County], New Hampshire; in the fall of 1869 went to Nashua [Hillsborough County], New Hampshire, and was employed in the dry goods store of Taylor & Kilpatrick until 1870, and with Crawford & Anderson in the same store 1870-1876; with F. E. KIMBALL in the same line of business 1876-1879. Engaged in mercantile business for himself for about a year; in 1880 went to Burlington [Vermont] and entered the employ of J. R. BOOTH in the lumber business, beginning as tally boy, and being steadily advanced until in 1895 he became general manager, which position he still holds. In 1874 he [Edward Judson BOOTH] married [Miss?] Annie E. GOULD of Nashua [Hillsborough County], New Hampshire, who died in 1877; they had one daughter, Florence G., Mrs. DAVIDSON, Wollaston [Norfolk County], Massachusetts. In 1882 he married [Miss?] Ina V. THOMPSON of Nashua, New Hampshire; they have two children: Marion, Mrs. BARKER, of Montclair [Essex County], New Jersey; and John E. Republican; alderman 1886-1889 inclusive; president of the Chittenden County Trust Company; director Baldwin Refrigerator Company, the O. L. Hinds Company, and the Elias Lyman Coal Company. Trustee, steward and treasurer of Methodist Episcopal Church. Past grand of Green Mountain Lodge No. 1, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; member of Ethan Allen Club and Algonquin Club; president of the latter in 1911.
