BOND, insurance, Burlington [Chittenden County, Vermont], was born 04 September 1854 at Guilford [Windham County, Vermont], son of George W. and Mary E. (ALLEN) BOND. Educated at Leland and Gray Seminary and Eastman's Commercial College, Poughkeepsie [Dutchess County], New York. He followed farming up to the age of about twenty-eight years, when he engaged in the sale of organs and pianos for seven years for Edward CLARK of Brattleboro and for Bailey's Music Rooms of Burlington. He then took up life insurance for different companies; for twelve years has held the Vermont state agency for the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company of Newark, New Jersey. In 1877 Mr. [John A.] BOND married [Miss?] Martha A. STREETER of Vernon [Windham County, Vermont], who died in 1890, leaving two children, Ruth Person and Clara Alice, both graduates of the University of Vermont. In 1891 Mr. [John A.] BOND married [Miss?] Grace L. STEVENS of Walden [Caledonia County Vermont]. Mr. BOND is an attendant of the College Street Congregational Church; a member of Washington Lodge No. 3, Free & Accepted Masons; Algonquin Club; Ethan Allen Club; Vermont Automobile Club and American Automobile Association.
