George Melvin BESETT, manufacturer, Burlington [Chittenden County, Vermont], 
was born 03 April 1869 at Richmond [Chittenden County], son of Edward and 
Mary (NOBLE) BESETT. Educated at Richmond High School; is secretary and 
general manager of the Wells & Richardson Company. Republican; 
Congregationalist; member of Washington Lodge No. 3, Free & Accepted Masons; 
Burlington Chapter No. 3, Royal Arch Masons; Burlington Council No. 5, Royal 
& Select Masons; Burlington Commandery No. 2, Knights Templar, a 32nd degree 
Mason; member of Vermont Consistory; Cairo Temple, Mystic Shrine; Algonquin 
Club; Ethan Allen Club; Waubanakee Golf Club; Drug Club of New York City; 
National Wholesale Druggists' Association, and Proprietary Association of 
America. In 1893 Mr. [George Melvin] BESETT married Jennie Ruth PINNEY of 
Middlebury [Addison County, Vermont]; they have one daughter, Marion Ruth.
