Chittenden County AMBLER, Ebenezer Vermont Historical Magazine, No XI, October 1867, p 824 Ebenezer AMBLER was born 26 April 1756 in West Chester County, New York, son of John AMBLER. Besides being first selectman of the first board chosen at the original organization of the town [of Huntington, Chittenden County, Vermont], he was for several years one of the justices of the peace in the town. He was in the American service in the Revolution, and was at one time taken prisoner by the Hessians. Ebenezer AMBLER married Elizabeth, daughter of Deacon Charles BREWSTER, in Tinmouth [Rutland County], Vermont, and removed from thence to Huntington in 1787. They had only two children, a son named John, born 29 October 1784, and a daughter named Elizabeth, commonly called Betsey, born 29 May 1794, both of whom are [1867] living.
