Louis J. ZIMMERMANN, cigar factory, Chippewa Falls [Chippewa County, 
Wisconsin, was born in Austria on 10 August 1857. He came to America in 
1867, and to Wisconsin the same year. He resided at Milwaukee [Milwaukee 
County, Wisconsin] a very short time, and then went to La Crosse [La Crosse 
County, Wisconsin], where he lived nine years. At La Crosse he learned a 
trade, and was employed at it for some years. He then came to Chippewa Falls 
in 1876.

On 25 August 1879 in Chippewa Falls [Chippewa County, Wisconsin], Louis J. 
ZIMMERMANN was married to Julia GOULD, who was born in Chippewa Falls. They 
[Louis J. and Julia ZIMMERMANN] have one child, Frank. Louis J. ZIMMERMANN 
commenced business for himself [in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin] in 1879.
