Sullivan; born in Windham Co., Vt., Feb. 12, 1822; the early part of his life was spent in Jefferson Co., N.Y., where he was educated; came to Jefferson Co. in 1844, locating on the farm he now owns of 162 acres; bought it, in part, of the Government, and proceeded to improve it, and now has one of the best farms and homes in his township. Mr. Caryl married Eliza J. Hays, of Hebron, in 1851; have five children - Elmer, Ansel, Nelson, Mary and James. He is Independent in politics and liberal in religion.
