Caledonia LAUGHLIN, Hugh Vermont Historical Magazine, No. XI, October 1867, p 381 (extracted from a section on the history of Ryegate, Caledonia County, Vermont) Hugh LAUGHLIN was a native of Ireland, who emigrated to the United States and settled in Ryegate [Caledonia County, Vermont] on 02 August 1799. Possessed of considerable attainments, and a benevolent heart, he soon rose in the estimation of the people. Thrice he represented the town, was many years a justice of the peace, for a long time an active member of the Bible society, and a deacon in the Congregational Church. He [Hugh LAUGHLIN] died 30 June 1826, in the sixty-fifth year of his age. He had three children. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
