Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, pp 238-239 Samuel Albert JONES, physician and surgeon, Sheffield [Caledonia County, Vermont], was born 05 December 1856 at Wheelock [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of Samuel H. and Betsey (ROOT) JONES. Educated in the public schools; Lyndon Academy; University of Vermont, medical department; and Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. Has practiced medicine in Sheffield since 1883. Republican; has held the offices of selectman, superintendent of schools, auditor, and has been moderator continuously for the last eighteen years. Was treasurer of U. S. board of pension examiners, resigning the position to represent his town in the state Legislature in 1910. Has been health officer since the office was created. Free [Will] Baptist. Member of the Grange; Independent Order of Odd Fellows; Junior Order of United American Mechanics. He has filled local chairs in last named order, served two years as state councillor, and has been delegate to the national body at Nashville, Tennessee.
