Herbert W. HOVEY, St. Johnsbury [Caledonia County, Vermont], lawyer, was born 
27 January 1879 at Waterford [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of William M. 
and Lucy A. (WASHBURN) HOVEY. Graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1895; 
Dartmouth College, 1901; and Boston University School of Law, 1903. Admitted 
to the Massachusetts bar in 1903. Admitted to the Vermont bar in 1904, and 
has since been engaged in practice in St. Johnsbury. Republican. 
Congregationalist. In 1908 [Herbert W. HOVEY] married [Miss?] Mable E. ROSS, 
of St. Johnsbury [Caledonia County, Vermont].
