GOODINE, granite manufacturer, South Ryegate [Caledonia County, Vermont], was born 18 September 1870 at Upper Magaguadavic, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Simon and Mary (HENRY) GOODINE. Educated in the public schools in New Brunswick. In 1887 went to St. Johnsbury [Caledonia County, Vermont], where he was employed in the Fairbanks scale works for five years; in 1893 went to South Ryegate and learned the granite business; in 1898 bought the granite business, which he has enlarged so that he now has two granite sheds, also a quarry. Republican. Member of the Presbyterian Church. Member of Pulaski Lodge No. 38, Free & Accepted Masons, of Wells River [Orange County, Vermont].
