FOLSOM, railroad superintendent, Lyndonville [Caledonia County, Vermont], was born 14 January 1850 at Lyndon [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of Charles and Flavia (McGAFFEY) FOLSOM. Educated in the public schools and at Newbury Seminary. Entered the employ of the Passumpsic Railroad Company, 01 September 1870, as clerk in the office of the general freight agent, and was appointed superintendent in September 1875. On 01 June 1887 was appointed division superintendent of the Boston & Maine Railroad. President of the Vermont Valley Railroad, St. Johnsbury & Lake Champlain Railroad Company, vice president of the Montpelier & Wells River and Barre Railroads, and director in the Connecticut & Passumpsic Railroad, the Sulllivan County Railroad, and the Newport & Richford Railroad. Formerly a Democrat; and was delegate-at-large to the Democratic national convention of 1892. Has been a Republican since the national election of 1896. In religion is a Universalist.
