Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, p 173-174 Ira Walton DREW, osteopathic surgeon, Philadelphia [Philadelphia County], Pennsylvania, was born 31 August 1878 at Hardwick [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of John H. and Fannie (WALTON) DREW. Educated at St. Johnsbury public schools, Hardwick Academy, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathy. Learned the printer's trade on the St. Johnsbury "Caledonian," and was later reporter for that paper. Became reporter for the "Burlington Free Press" in 1899, and was later news editor on the "Boston American," "Boston Herald," and "Philadelphia North American." Began the practice of osteopathy in Philadelphia in 1911. Served ten years in the Vermont National Guard as a private and on noncommissioned staff. Republican. Episcopalian. Director of Bethesda Rescue Mission for Men in Philadelphia. Member of Burlington Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons, former senior warden; member Burlington Chapter, Royal Arch Masons; Vermont Consistory, Scottish Rite Masons; Burlington Lodge of Elks, former secretary; Philadelphia Pen and Pencil Club; Boston Press Club; Philadelphia Continental Republican Club; secretary Philadelphia Union Republican Club; president Philadelphia Southern Osteopathic Dispensary Association; former national treasurer Iota Tau Sigma fraternity; member American Osteopathic Association; Pennsylvania Osteopathic Association; Philadelphia County Osteopathic Society; Cynwyd Neighborhood Club, and Cynwyd Country Club.
