DARLING, physician and surgeon, South Ryegate, was born 05 December 1857 at South Ryegate [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of Dr. John B. and Marguerite (SHAW) DARLING. Educated in the public schools of Ryegate, Newbury Seminary; Peacham Academy 1879; and the University of Vermont, medical department, 1882. In 1882 he began the practice of medicine with his father at Ryegate, which he has since continued; has a practice covering about six surrounding towns. He also owns and carries on a farm. Republican; school director twelve years. Presbyterian. Member of the Connecticut Valley and Vermont State Medical Societies, and the County Fish and Game Club. In 1883 Dr. [George W.] DARLING married [Miss?] Jennie P. SOMERS of Barnet, who died 1905; they had six children: Theresa B. (Mrs. COWEN), Charles B., George L., Jennie M., Grace D.
