CHASE, publisher, Lyndonville [Caledonia County, Vermont], was born 24 September 1872 at Lyndon [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of Charles M. and Mary E. (WELLS) CHASE. Educated at Lyndon Academy 1890, and St. Johnsbury Academy 1891 [both in Caledonia County]. After leaving school, worked several years in the office of a paper owned by his father, "The Vermont Union," at Lyndon. Was associate editor of the St. Johnsbury "Caledonian" for three ears, associate editor of "The Opinion" at Bradford [Orange County, Vermont] for three years, and for shorter times on several other papers. From 1902-1905 was editor of the "Vermont Union," purchasing it and the "Lyndonville Journal" in 1905, and uniting the two papers with office at Lyndonville. Democrat. In religious belief a Congregationalist. In 1903 Mr. [John B.] CHASE married [Miss?] Elizabeth M. JONES of Claremont [Sullivan County], New Hampshire. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
