Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, p 138-139 Eugene Milton CAMPBELL, insurance agent and coal dealer, Lyndon Center [Caledonia County, Vermont], was born 12 December 1850 in Sutton [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of Milton A. and Adeline (BLAKE) CAMPBELL. He was educated in the public schools and at New Hampton Institute, New Hampton [Belknap County], New Hampshire. Was a farmer and school teacher in Sutton [Caledonia County] in 1872; was in the grocery business at Lyndon Center [Caledonia County], from 1873 to 1876; was employed as foreman by Lyndonville Dressing Mill Company, 1876 to 1884; clerk in office at railroad shops, Lyndonville [Caledonia County, Vermont], 1884 to 1890; since 1891 has been an insurance agent and coal dealer at Lyndonville; has been a partner in the firm of Campbell & Blodgett, insurance agents, since 1893. In 1872 he [Eugene Milton CAMPBELL] married [Miss?] Emma A. STODDARD of Lyndon [Caledonia County, Vermont]; they had six children: Elwyn G., Elfie E., Fred M., Flora J., Raymond E. (deceased), and William E. Republican previous to 1884; since then member of Prohibition party; has been candidate of Prohibitionists of Vermont for offices of presidential elector, state treasurer, governor, and member of congress; as a Prohibitionist elected to the board of justices on a union ticket for past twelve years; has served one year as superintendent of schools of Lyndon; has been secretary and treasurer of the board of library trustees fifteen years; now agent of the town of Lyndon. Member Independent Order of Odd Fellows since 1884, secretary of lodge five years; member of Red Men more than twenty years, in which he holds the rank of past sachem; member of Good Templars since 1870, and has been grand secretary of the Grand Lodge of Vermont for thirteen years; represented this Grand Lodge at international sessions of the order at Zurich, Switzerland, 1897, and Stockholm, Sweden, 1902.
