Caledonia BOLTON, Plynn Men of Vermont: an Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro: Transcript Publishing Company, 1894, p 35 Plynn BOLTON, of Peacham [Caledonia County, Vermont], was born 16 September 1824 in Barnet [Caledonia County, Vermont], son of Luther C. and Julia (HOOKER) BOLTON. Obtaining such educational advantages as lay in his power in the public schools of Danville [Caledonia County] and Newbury [Orange County, Vermont], in the intervals of labor upon a farm, when he had attained his majority he went to Boston [Suffolk County, Massachusetts], where he found employment. Returning to Danville in the spring of 1859, he purchased a farm and cultivated it for five years. He then again went to Boston where he continued a year, and then removed to Peacham, following the life of a farmer until 1869. He then commenced the business of a dealer in produce, and purchased horses for parties in Massachusetts. In 1873 he changed the scenes of his labors to Peacham Corner, where he operates a small farm, making a specialty of products of the dairy. On 08 April 1858 he [Plynn BOLTON] was united in marriage to Phebe H., daughter of Moses and Phebe (BROCK) WESSON, who died 13 September 1862, leaving one son, George BOLTON, M. D., of West Burke. On 11 May 1865 Mr. Plynn BOLTON contracted a second alliance, with Martha J., daughter of Ira and Recta (WHEELOCK) McLOUD. By his second wife he [Plynn BOLTON] had issue: Helen Phebe, deceased; May Evelyn; and Recta Gertrude, deceased. Mr. BOLTON's religious preferences are Congregational, and he has always voted the Republican ticket. For four years he was called upon to discharge the duties of trustee, lister and selectman, and has held many minor offices. He was elected to the state legislature as representative for Peacham in 1882, and served on the general and distributing committees. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
