HUNNER, Louis P. History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 163 Louis P. HUNNER, druggist, of the firm of Ginzkey & Hunner, Alma [Buffalo County, Wisconsin], the son of John and Doratha HUNNER, natives of Germany, was born 07 February 1850 in Buffalo [Erie County], New York. When he was fourteen years of age [1864?] his parents came to this county [Buffalo County, Wisconsin], and he has since resided here. He established his present business in 1873, under the firm name of L. P. Hunner & Company. In 1876 he took Mr. [Henry] GINZKEY for a partner, and by close attention to business and good management they have enlarged their business, and are doing an exchange banking business. [See also the Buffalo County, Wisconsin, biography of Louis P. HUNNER's business partner, Henry GINZKEY.] In 1869 Mr. [Louis P.] HUNNER married Lucella SMITH [a maiden name?]. She is a native of the State of Iowa. They [Louis P. and Lucella HUNNER] have three children: Richard, Edward, and Adella. [The 1880 census of Alma, Buffalo County, Wisconsin (p 323) lists the HUNNER household: Louis P., age thirty-one, druggist, born in New York (about 1849 by his census age) to parents both born in Germany; his wife, "Lucetta" age twenty nine, born (about 1851) in Iowa to parents also born there; a son, Richard, age 10, born in Wisconsin (about 1870); a daughter, Cora, age five, born in Wisconsin (about 1875 by her census age, who is not mentioned in the biography); a son "Edwin" age three, born in Wisconsin (about 1877); and a daughter "Della" age one, born in Wisconsin (1879). Also residing in the household is Catharine HUNNER, mother of Louis P. HUNNER, age sixty-three, born in Germany, about 1817 by her census age, to parents also born there; and John BURG, uncle of Louis P. HUNNER, age seventy-six, brick mason, born in Germany, by calculation about 1804, to parents also born there. (Is John BURG a maternal uncle? If so, is BURG the maiden name of Catharine HUNNER?) Carrie SMITH, unrelated to Louis P. HUNNER, age twelve, born in New York to parents who were also born there, completes the household.
