FYFE, Malcolm History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 166 Malcolm FYFE, Justice of the Peace and tailor, Fountain City [Cross Township (per 1878 Atlas), Buffalo County, Wisconsin], was born on 28 March 1830 in Scotland. In 1868 he came to the United States and immediately located at Fountain City, where he has made his home since. He was elected Justice of the Peace in 1870, and has held that office ever since. In 1865 in Scotland he [Malcolm FYFE] was married to [Miss?] Jane BRYCE, a native of that country, and they have had seven children, of whom five are living: Mary A., Elizabeth M. V., John B., Margaret, and Lorenzo. Mr. FYFE is a member of Fountain City Lodge No. 13, Ancient Order of United Workmen. The Malcolm FYFE family is enumerated in the 1880 census of Fountain City, Buffalo County, Wisconsin. Malcolm, age fifty, tailor, was born in Scotland (from his census age about 1830, which supports the year of birth given in the biography) to parents who were also born in Scotland. His wife, Jane, age forty-three, was born in Scotland (about 1837) to parents also born there. Four children are also enumerated in this household: (1) Mary E., age twenty-two, a teacher, born in Scotland, about 1858 by her census age; (2) John B., age fifteen, also born in Scotland, about 1865; (3) Maggy (a diminutive of Margaret), age nine, born in Wisconsin, about 1871; and Lorenzo, age five, also born in Wisconsin, about 1875 from his census age. None of the 1880 census data disputes the information given in the biography.
