FISHER, Frederick History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 163 Frederick FISHER, lumber dealer, Alma [Buffalo County, Wisconsin], was born 16 October 1835 in Germany. He came to America in 1841, and located with his parents in Maryland. In 1866 he came to Alma, and was employed for a number of years by Mrs. LANE [Margret, the wife of Frederick LANE, an Alma lumber dealer? Why does the biography say that Frederick FISHER was employed by Mrs. LANE instead of Mr. LANE? Was Frederick LANE deceased? Did Frederick FISHER manage a lumber business for Mrs. LANE and later go into the lumber business for himself?] In 1864 Frederick FISHER married Jennie [Jane C.?] LITTLE, a native of Philadelphia [Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania]. Frederick is enumerated in the 1880 census of Alma, Buffalo County, Wisconsin: Frederick, age forty-four, lumber merchant, born in Germany (from his census age about 1836, which does not dispute the year of birth given in the biography) to parents also born in Germany; and his wife, Jane C. FISHER, age forty-four, born in Pennsylvania (about 1836) to a father born in Pennsylvania and a mother born in England.
