DILLON, Franklin H. History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 169 Frank H. DILLON, general merchandise, Mondovi [Naples Township, Buffalo County, Wisconsin], was born 19 June 1856 [1857?] in New York [Pennsylvania?], and came here with his parents from New York in 1858, when one year old. [Assuming the year of his birth was 1857 and not 1856, then the family came to Naples between 01 January 1858 and 19 June 1859.] They located on a farm in the Town of Naples, and here he remained until 1872, when he began [from his DOB, at about age sixteen] to clerk in a general merchandise store in the Village of Mondovi, continuing at that for three years [until 1875?]. He then established a small grocery store, near where he now does business, and has kept increasing his stock until he does an annual business of $30,000. On 24 June 1877 [at age twenty?] Frank H. DILLON was married to Miss Louisa SMITH. She was also from the same [New York] State [Franklin H. DILLON is enumerated in the 1880 census of Mondovi, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, p 198 C. He is twenty-two years of age, thus born about 1858 (bio states 1856), a dry goods merchant, born in Pennsylvania (not New York, as stated in the bio), his father born in Ireland and his mother in New York. Also in the household are his wife Sarah Louise, age twenty-three, born in Wisconsin (from her census age, about 1857) to a father born in New York and a mother born in Ohio; and a fourteen-year-old female servant, Mary DAVIDSON, born in Wisconsin to parents born in Norway.] [Living in the household next door to Franklin H. DILLON is the family of Curtis T. DILLON: Curtis T., age twenty-six, a farmer, born in New York (about 1854) to a father born in Ireland and a mother born in New York; his wife Florence S., age twenty-two, born in Wisconsin to parents born in Connecticut and Ohio; and two sons, both born in Wisconsin: Benton, age three; and Thomas age four months. Is Curtis T. a brother of Franklin H. DILLON? Submitter is not researching these surnames.
