Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 166 Biography of Frederick BOHRI (brother of Christian) Frederick BOHRI, merchant, Bohri Brothers, dealers in general merchandise and grain, and exchange bank business, established in 1862, Fountain City [Cross Township (1878 Atlas of Wisconsin), Buffalo County], was born 16 March 1842 in Switzerland. He came to America in 1854, and his first permanent location was in this village [Fountain City]. For some years previous to his going into business for himself, he was employed as a clerk. In 1862, in company with his brother [Christian BOHRI], they opened their present establishment. He [Frederick BOHRI] married [Miss?] Lena KRUNDICK, a native of Hanover, Germany. [The 1880 census of Fountain City, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, p 301, enumerates the Frederick BOHRI household: Frederick, age thirty-eight, general merchant, born in Switzerland (about 1842 by his age, which agrees with the year of birth given in the biography) to parents also born in Switzerland; his wife Lena, age thirty-five, born (about 1845) in Hanover, Germany, to parents also born in Hanover; and one son, "Friedrich J.," age nine, born (about 1871) in Wisconsin. A son named Edwin is not listed as residing in the household.] Biography of Christian BOHRI (brother of Frederick) Christian BOHRI, merchant, Fountain City, was born 13 October 1830 [in Switzerland]. He came to America in 1852, and located for two years in New Philadelphia [Tuscarawas County], Ohio. In 1854 he went to New York to meet his parents, and they all came direct to this county [Buffalo County, Wisconsin]. The subject of this sketch was employed as clerk for BISHOP, in the second general store in the village [of Fountain City] until, in company with his brother [Frederick], they engaged in their present business. He [Christian BOHRI] married Victoria GILBERT [a maiden name?], a native of Illinois. They [Christian and Victoria BOHRI] have five children: Frank G., Jennie, Frederick, Allie, and Maud. This Christian BOHRI is a widower, age seventy-four, born in Wisconsin (about 1806 from his age) to parents both born in Switzerland. The head of this household is Christ HARTMANN, son-in-law of this Christian BOHRI. The household also contains his wife, Maria, age thirty-four, born in Switzerland (about 1846 from her age) to parents also born there; his daughter Rosetta, age six, born in Wisconsin; Lena BOHRI, his step daughter, age sixteen, born in Wisconsin (about 1864) to parents who were born in Switzerland; and Marion BOHRI, also his step daughter, age fourteen, born in Wisconsin (about 1856) to parents born in Switzerland.
