Whitewater; born in Somersetshire, Eng., Dec. 24, 1814; his early life was spent in England and he came to America in 1850; he located in Cold Spring, Jefferson Co., Wis.; resided twelve years on Sec. 23; settled on his present farm of 248 acres in 1863. Married Miss Lydia Gardner Feb. 3, 1847, who is now a resident of Whitewater. The family came to America with just $50, and their success is the result of their diligence and foresight.
