Bennington MOORE, Grove Vermont Historical Magazine, No. XI, October 1867, p 224 (extracted from a section on the history of Rupert, Bennington County, Vermont) Hon. Grove MOORE and Hon. Josiah RISING were early settlers [of Rupert, Bennington County, Vermont], and also prominent citizens in their day. The former [Grove MOORE] a Representative in the Legislature for two years, and also for some time Judge of Probate; the latter [Josiah RISING] being a Representative seven years between 1804 and 1817, Judge of the County Court, and a leading Anti-mason, being a Delegate to the Baltimore Convention, which nominated William WIRT for President of the United States.
