Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, pp 244-245 Clayton John KINSLEY, newspaper man, Bennington [Bennington County, Vermont], was born 20 January 1866 at Cambridge [Lamoille County, Vermont], son of Clinton Samuel and Hester Medora (SCRIBNER) KINSLEY. Educated at Burlington High School, and at the University of Vermont. Learned the printer's trade in the office of his father's newspaper, the "Burlington Clipper," when he was a boy. Left college at the end of the second year, worked as compositor on the "Burlington Free Press," and later as reporter and night editor. Went to Barre [Washington County, Vermont] in 1892, and formed a partnership with J. W. RAMSEY in the publication of the Granite City "Leader," which was suspended in 1896. Was employed for a year on the Montpelier "Evening Record," and for about a year with the Essex Publishing Company. Was located in Whittier [Los Angeles County], California, for nearly two years as one of the publishers of the "Whittier News." Since December 1903 has been employed on the Bennington "Evening Banner." In 1906 Clayton John KINSLEY married [Miss?] Grace Cora SIBLEY of Bennington. Biography of Earl S. KINSLEY, life insurance, Rutland [Rutland County, Vermont], was born 04 November 1869 at Cambridge [Lamoille County, Vermont], son of Clinton S. and Medora (SCRIBNER) KINSLEY. [Mother's given name Medora or Hester Medora?] Educated in the public schools of Burlington and Washington D. C. Has been general agent for the National Life Insurance Company since 1895. Republican; was messenger in the Vermont House of Representatives 1880; appointed messenger in the U. S. Senate by Senator George F. EDMUNDS in 1881, and served until 1886. Was official reporter of the Vermont State Senate from 1886-1888, chief of staff on Governor Fletcher D. PROCTOR's staff from 1906-1908, and represented Rutland in the state Legislature in 1908. Congregationalist. Member of the Masonic fraternity. In 1890 Earl S. KINSLEY married [Miss?] Clara CHASE of Burlington [Chittenden County, Vermont]; they have two children, George S. and Hester M.
