Bennington BEEBE, Asa & Asa Jr. Vermont Historical Magazine, No XI, October 1867, p 247 (extracted from an article on the early settlement of Winhall) Asa BEEBE was a good citizen and a man of some business in town. He lived to see a family of five sons and seven daughters married and settled in town [Winhall, Bennington County, Vermont]; he [Asa BEEBE] died 05 December 1813, aged seventy years. His wife, Lydia BEEBE, died 14 December 1813, aged seventy. [Proximity of these death dates suggests they are related.] Asa BEEBE, Jr., was the first Town Clerk [of Winhall, Bennington County, Vermont], and several times a member of the State Legislature. He was an enterprising, industrious farmer, and highly esteemed as a citizen and neighbor. He [Asa BEEBE, Jr.] married Sarah, daughter of Deacon Ephraim DAY. They [Asa and Sarah BEEBE, Jr.] had a large family. About thirty-five years since he removed to Western New York, where he [Asa BEEBE Jr.] died at a very advanced age. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
