Arthur William EDDY, superintendent of schools, Middlebury [Addison County, 
Vermont], was born 24 February 1876 at De Kalb [St. Lawrence County], New 
York, son of Frank Deloss and Emily M. (BENTLEY) EDDY. Educated at 
Rensselaer Falls [St. Lawrence County], New York, graded school; Potsdam 
Normal School [St. Lawrence County], New York, class of 1897; and Middlebury 
College, Vermont, 1904. Teacher of rural school, Morristown [St. Lawrence 
County], New York, 1894; Principal North Bangor Union School [Franklin 
County], New York, 1897-1900; Principal Beeman Academy, New Haven [Addison 
County], Vermont, 1904-1907; Superintendent of town schools, New Haven, 
1905-1907; Superintendent of schools, New Haven Valley Union, 1907-1911; and 
of Middlebury Union, 1911 to the present time. President of Vermont State 
Association of Union Superintendents, 1907-1909; county examiner of teachers, 
Addison County, 1908-1909; Trustee Bristol Public Library 1908-1911; 
Assistant Treasurer, Addison County Agricultural Society, 1909-1911; Auditor 
1911. Republican. Congregationalist. Member of the Grange since 1906; 
Master of Beaver Glen Grange, New Haven, 1907; Treasurer of Bristol Grange 
1909-1911; a master Mason; member Delta Upsilon and Phi Beta Kappa 
fraternities; Clerk of county committee of Young Mens Christian Association 
of Addison County, Vermont; Councillor of Green Mountain Club for Addison 
County. In 1898 he [Arthur William EDDY] married [Miss?] Ella Grace HOLTON 
of Potsdam [St. Lawrence County], New York; they have one daughter, Ruth.
