DYER, merchant, Salisbury, was born 10 June 1866 at Salisbury [Addison County, Vermont], son of John Morton and Sarah E. (CURTIS) DYER. Educated in the public schools, and Beeman Academy, New Haven [Addison County, Vermont]. Since 1892 Mr. DYER has been engaged in general merchandise business in Salisbury; store and contents destroyed by fire in 1910 but rebuilt. Republican; represented Salisbury in the Legislature 1896, chairman of committee on Vermont Industrial School; postmaster 1898 to 1906; deputy sheriff 1899 to 1906; school director, and chairman of the board since 1900; has been a member of the board of selectmen, and held minor town offices; elected assistant judge of the Addison County Court in 1906, re-elected 1908; Secretary of Addison County Agricultural Society 1887-1891 and 1895-1897, president of the society 1904-1905, and again elected secretary 1911. Was chairman of the Republican county committee 1904-1908. Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church seventeen years, nearly all of which time he has been a member of the official board; has been a delegate to three Lay Electoral Conferences of the church; was a delegate to the congress of the laymen's missionary movement held at Chicago 1910. Member of Union Lodge No. 2, Free & Accepted Masons; Potter Chapter No. 22, Royal Arch Masons; Middlebury Council No. 14, Royal & Select Masons; Mount Calvary Commandery No. 1, Knights Templar; and Otter Creek Lodge, Knights of Pythias. In 1891 he [Frank C. DYER] married [Miss?] Jessie E. BEAUDRY of Rutland [Rutland County, Vermont]; they have two children, Jessie Marguerite and Carroll Francis. Biography of William H. DYER (brother of Frank C.) William H. DYER, merchant, Middletown Springs [Rutland County, Vermont], was born 15 August 1871 at Salisbury [Addison County, Vermont], son of John M. and Sarah E. (CURTIS) DYER. Educated in the public schools, and Beeman Academy, New Haven [Addison County]. Engaged in farming for ten years; in 1899 removed to Middletown Springs, and conducted a general mercantile business, which he has continued to date. Republican; town clerk and justice of the peace for the past ten years; has also served as selectman, and in various other town offices; represented Middletown Springs in the Legislature 1904; member of the general committee, serving as its secretary. In religious preference a Congregationalist. Member of Morning Star Lodge No. 37, Free & Accepted Masons; Poultney Chapter No. 10, Royal Arch Masons; Killington Commandery No. 6, Knights Templar; Cairo Temple, Mystic Shrine, of Rutland; and Middletown Springs Grange No. 288.
