Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, p 162 James Monroe DALY, dental surgeon, Dorchester [Suffolk County], Massachusetts, was born 23 December 1829 at Salisbury [Addison County, Vermont], son of James W. and Sarah E. (OWEN) DALY. Educated at Bristol public schools [Addison County], and graduated from Boston Dental College in 1870. In 1845 our subject began the study of dentistry under Dr. John SABINE, Boston. In 1852 Dr. DALY began the practice of his profession, which he has since continued. At present he is in partnership with his son, Dr. M. Orway DALY. Our subject was one of the founders and incorporators of the Boston Dental College, and one of its trustees until its union with Tufts College. In 1852 he [James Monroe DALY] married [Miss?] Amelia S. CHURCHILL of Boston [Suffolk County, Massachusetts], who died in 1860. They had two children, Grace Amelia and James Harlow. In 1864 James Monroe DALY married [Miss?] Elizabeth Tolman BISPHAM of Dorchester [Suffolk County], Massachusetts. They have one son, Martin Ordway. Whig until Republican party organized [1854]; member of Third Religious Society in Dorchester (Unitarian); board of assessors and trustee of ministerial fund; Royal Arcanum, Norfolk Club, Vermont Association, Men's Club of Third Church, Dorchester; former member Knights of Honor, Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, and Middlesex Club.
