Harvey BELL was born in April 1791, graduated at Middlebury College [Vermont] 
in 1809; read law at the Litchfield Law School (Connecticut) in 1813, 
commenced practice in Middlebury [Addison County, Vermont], where he resided 
until his death, 11 July 1848; was a member of the Governor's Council, 1835; 
member of the Vermont Senate, 1835-1836; Secretary of the corporation of 
Middlebury College, 1826-1843, and was editor of the "Northern Galaxy," 
1841-1848.
