BEACH, farmer and hotel keeper, Ferrisburgh [Addison County, Vermont], was born 09 August 1850 at Ferrisburgh [Addison County, Vermont], son of Allen Penfield and Caroline (BENTLY) BEACH. Educated at Newbury and Montpelier Seminaries. He has always followed farming; in 1909 he came into possession of the farm and summer hotel known as "The Lodge" at Basin Harbor [Addison County, Vermont], formerly owned by his sister, Ardelia B. (BEACH) STRONG. [Ardelia BEACH acquired the farm of 225 acres in Basin Harbor in 1882; she died 09 August 1886. A golf course was built there in 1927, and there is still a resort there.] In 1871 he [Harvey F. BEACH] married [Miss?] Phebe N. TORREY of Panton [Addison County, Vermont], who died 1891; they had three children, Charles E., Caroline E., and Allen Penfield. In 1893 he [Harvey F. BEACH] married [Miss?] Lucy J. SPENCER of Bristol [Addison County, Vermont]. Mr. BEACH is a Republican; school director twelve years; justice of the peace; and town grand juror. Member of the Episcopal Church for forty-five years; steward, trustee, and Sunday school superintendent; member of the Grange. [Was Harvey F. BEACH related to David BEACH, who served through the Revolutionary War, first as recruiting sergeant and afterwards as lieutenant, and who came to Chittenden County, Vermont, from New Milford [Litchfield County], Connecticut, in 1788?
