ATWOOD, of Salisbury [Addison County, Vermont], was born 14 December 1828 in Starksboro [Addison County, Vermont], son of Hiram and Phoebe (FRANK) ATWOOD. He was educated in the common schools and at the Bristol Academy. In 1851 he settled on a farm in Salisbury, where he is widely known as a cattle buyer and stockman, having had a large experience in the industries he represents. Mr. ATWOOD's political affiliations are with the Republican party. He represented the town of Salisbury in the Legislature of 1882, serving on agricultural and other committees. Over the county and district conventions of his party he has presided for many years past. On 02 April 1851 Mr. [Frank C.] ATWOOD was married to Sarah M., daughter of Solomon and Sarah (THOMAS) SALISBURY. They have two sons: Henry S., now deputy county treasurer of LaBette County, Kansas; and Julius W., who has been rector of St. James Church at Providence [Providence County], Rhode Island, since 1887. Mr. [Frank C.] ATWOOD is prominent in Masonic circles and has been a member of Union Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons, Middlebury, for nearly forty years. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
