WI BIO - Adams Co - WILSON, Ezra Commemorative and Biographical Record of Columbia, Sauk and Adams Counties, Wisconsin. Chicago: Ogle, 1901, pp 629-630 Ezra WILSON, deceased, was for many years a highly esteemed and honored citizen of Richfield Township, Adams County, Wisconsin, his home being on Section 2, where his widow still resides. He [Ezra WILSON] was born 08 August 1826 in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. He first came to Adams County [Wisconsin] in 1872, but after living here a while he removed to Green Lake County [Wisconsin], and did not return to Adams County until 1880. In early life he worked at the carpenter and millwright trades, but devoted his last years to farming, owning and operating 145 acres on Section 2, Richfield Township. Mr. [Ezra] WILSON was twice married, his first wife being Miss Jemima SCHOOLY, of Pennsylvania, who died 27 December 1869 in Dartford, Green Lake County, Wisconsin. By that union [Ezra and Jemima (SCHOOLY) WILSON] nine children were born, namely [note that only eight are given]: (1) William; (2) Jennie, wife of John BROOKS, of Junction City, Portage County, Wisconsin; (3) Mark, who married Irene ALLEN and lives in Georgia; (4) Lavinia, wife of John BANKER, of Berlin [Green Lake County], Wisconsin; (5) Lois; (6) Walter, who married Viola DAVY, and is also a resident of Berlin; (7) Charlie; and (8) Emma, wife of Frank LEACH, of Adams County [Wisconsin]. On 23 January 1874, at Green Bay [Brown County], Wisconsin, Mr. [Ezra] WILSON married Miss Sarah LINCH, who was born 17 May 1856 in Orange County, New York, and in 1868 came to Green Lake County, Wisconsin, with her parents, Aaron and Sarah (BAIRD) LINCH. By his second marriage our subject [Ezra WILSON] had two sons: (1) Lorenzo; and (2) Orin O., who married Lavina LABRENCE [a maiden name?] and lives at home [Section 2, Richfield Township, Adams County, Wisconsin], where he owns twenty-five acres of land. The father [the father of Sarah LINCH, namely Aaron LINCH, whose son-in-law (wife of Sarah LINCH) was Ezra WILSON], a farmer by occupation, is still a resident of Green Lake County [Wisconsin]. He [Aaron] served for three months as a soldier of the Civil War at the beginning of that conflict. His [Aaron LINCH's] children are: (1) Mary C., wife of Joseph TAYLOR, of Dartford, Green Lake County, Wisconsin; (2) Angeline, wife of John HUBERT, of South Dakota; (3) Martha A., wife of William WILSON, of Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin; (4) Joseph, who married Eva COLLEN [a maiden name?], and now lives in Illinois; (5) Dwight, who married Sarah B. WILSON [a maiden name?], and makes his home in Dartford [Green Lake County], Wisconsin; (6) Sarah, widow of Ezra WILSON, our subject; (7) William H.; (8) Cassie, wife of Mr. ----- DAVIS, of Columbus [Columbia County], Wisconsin; (9) Benjamin, who wedded Mary OTTO [a maiden name?], and lives in Rush Lake, Green Lake County; (10) Josiah, who married Lillie BRADLEY [a maiden name?], and resides in Dartford [Green Lake County]; and (11) Lizzie, wife of Willis BONNELL, also of Dartford. [Note that the issue of Aaron LINCH are referred to as "his children," not "their children." Submitter did not search for or view vital or other records as supporting evidence for this biography, and has not made the assumption that Sarah (BAIRD) LINCH was the only wife of Aaron LINCH, the mother of all the above-named children. Repetition of the name "Sarah" does suggest, however, that Sarah (BAIRD) LINCH was the mother of Sarah (LINCH) WILSON.] Mr. [Ezra] WILSON was a soldier of the Civil War, enlisting at Madison [Dane County], Wisconsin, in Company I, 31st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, and in later years he was an honored member of Tom Eubank Post, No. 150, G. A. R., at Hancock [Waushara County], Wisconsin. He was well and favorably known and was justly entitled to the high regard in which he was held by his fellow citizens and by all who knew him, for he led an upright, honorable life, and was true to every trust reposed in him. Mrs. WILSON was a member of the Relief Corps at Hancock. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
